Blepharoplasty is a surgery that corrects changes in the skin caused by aging in the area of the eyelids and around the eyes. Eyelid surgery is not only an aesthetic, but also a functional concern. Sagging eyelids can cause feelings of fatigue, eye pain, tears and headache. Upper and lower eyelids can be treated separately or simultaneously.
The surgery is suitable for:
Anyone troubled by sagging lower eyelids and unattractive fat sediments.
When to undergo surgery:
The surgery can be planned without any special restrictions. However, if you intend to go on vacation in the sun, we recommend not leaving sooner than 3 weeks after surgery.
What to expect:
Your sight will be clearer once again. The shape of the lower eyelids will be firmer and excess skin will be removed.
How the surgery is performed:
Same-day procedure, under local anaesthesia. Eyelid surgery consists of the removal of excess skin from the eyelids and the removal of fat. The incision for the upper eyelids will create a scar in the natural crease of the eye, while the incision for the lower eyelid is made directly below the eyelashes. The surgery takes about one hour.
Length of hospitalisation:
The patient should not forget to bring sunglasses. You can go home straight after the surgery.
What to expect after surgery:
We recommend applying ice for the first three days, and after that, we recommend using Stratamed to facilitate the healing of scars. In the first week, you should limit the amount of time spent reading, watching TV and working on a computer. We will remove your stitches on the sixth or seventh day after surgery, after which you just need to wait for the swelling and bruises to subside. You should avoid sports for the first 3-4 weeks.
