We use a Mixto CO2 fractional laser to remove wrinkles, acne scars and pigment marks; the laser can be used to treat the face, tummy, hips, thighs and hands. The device is also suitable for the treatment of birthmarks, and various skin “growths” such as warts.
What’s the principle behind the machine? A fractional laser applies a grid of therapeutic laser micro-rays to the upper and middle layers of the skin. Immediate effects include contraction of the skin, smoothing of old-age wrinkles and the removal of pigment. One advantage of the Mixto CO2 laser is that it is not necessary to resurface deep layers of the skin with the laser beam. This enables faster healing.
The procedure is suitable for:
Clients with pigment spots and greyish skin. It is also suitable for clients who wish to remove acne scars and is often recommended for clients with fine wrinkles around their eyes, mouth and chin.
When to undergo surgery:
The ideal period is between mid-September and April. The face should not be exposed to intense sunlight after the procedure.
What to expect:
Pinker and smoother skin, minimisation or complete removal of fine wrinkles, pigment marks and scars.
How is the procedure performed:
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. The doctor numbs the face using a small needle. This is followed by laser treatment. Afterwards, a special serum is applied to the face. Finally, the treated area is cooled.
Length of hospitalisation:
The procedure does not require hospitalisation; the client merely needs to rest for two hours on the ward and keep the treated area cool.
What to expect after the procedure:
The face heals by forming a scab which peels off in 3-5 days. For social reasons, we recommend taking a 5-7 day vacation.
