Lop ears are one of the most common cosmetic defects that can be easily resolved today by cosmetic surgery. Variations in the size or shape of the auricle are also common. All of these cosmetic defects can be corrected by a surgical procedure called otoplasty. The surgery is available to both adults and children.
The surgery is suitable for:
Men and women who have problems with lop ears or the shape of their ears. Regardless of whether this is due to injury or genetics.
When to undergo surgery:
The surgery is available to clients from the age of 14, with parental consent.
What to expect:
Ears of the desired shape and in the right position.
How is the surgery performed:
The surgery is performed under local anaesthesia. In the case of children, under analgosedation. The incision is made on the back of the ear; after releasing the skin, the cartilage is modelled and finally, the auricles pulled closer to the head with stitches.
Length of hospitalisation:
You can go home straight after the surgery. The first check-up takes place on the second day, which includes cleaning the wound and applying a compression headband. You can return to work in 3 to 10 days – depending on your job.
What to expect after surgery:
The swelling will disappear in about 14 days, and the expected results will become evident.
